The main judge Nitin Jamdar inaugurates online submission and hearing facility for the permanent Lok Adalats in Kochi.
Online submissions and auditory facilities for permanent Lok Adalats were launched in the state to bridge a gap in justice, especially for marginalized communities, with technology support.
Lok Adalat is a platform of an alternative dispute resolution that makes disputes friendly. Currently, the permanent Lok Adalats is held in Thiruvananthapurama, Ernakula and Kozhikode.
The online platform, the Initiative of the Office for Legal Services in Kerala (Kelsa), will help applicants to file their cases online from anywhere in the state, saving time, resources and efforts. According to the organizers, the facility will be available at E-Sewa Kendras, as well as on the legal services of the districts and taluk. The main judge Nitin Jamdar launched the device on the second day.
Kelsa also launched Athigeevanam, an intervention system for victims of natural disasters and samayam, a scheme for peace and friendly civic, quasi-civil and complicated crime that appears in front of police stations. Samanvaya, a counseling mechanism for remedying marital and domestic disputes, was also launched.
A short film Arike was also launched, aimed at creating awareness of domestic violence. The film is a joint venture of the Office and the Government Legal University of Ernakulam.
