Woman dies after jumping from seventh floor PG in Whitefield; the man suffered multiple injuries

A 23-year-old woman has died after allegedly jumping from the seventh floor of a paying guest accommodation in Whitefield on Sunday with a 30-year-old man. The man survived the fall but suffered serious injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Janani Perumal (23), a software engineer working with a private company in Pattandur Agrahara. Originally from Puducherry, she lived in PG accommodation at ECC Road, Whitefield.

The injured man, 30-year-old Manichavelu, is employed by a logistics company in Puducherry and a resident of Nallathur in the Union Territory.

According to Whitefield police, the two went to the seventh floor of Radha Krishna Co-Live PG on ECC Road and allegedly jumped from the building.

Janani died on the spot while Manichavelu sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital. Residents alerted the police, who then arrived at the scene and took the woman’s body for an autopsy.

“The extent of his injuries is being ascertained. He probably suffered multiple fractures. We are investigating what prompted the couple to take such an extreme step,” said the police officer.

The police are checking the background of both people and whether they knew each other or were in a relationship. The exact circumstances that led to the incident are not yet known.
