Nagendra’s resignation is not due to BJP protests, says minister

Former minister B. Nagendra’s resignation was not due to BJP protests. It is a decision taken by the Congress, Minister Satish Jarkiholi said in Vijayapur on Sunday.

“The BJP is welcome to organize a padayatra against the state government, against the alleged irregularities in the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation,” he said.

“It is a decision taken by the BJP and an internal matter of the party. On our side, we have sought and obtained the resignation of the minister who is facing charges. It is wrong to say that BJP’s protests led to his resignation,” he said.

He said the state government had given answers to all the questions raised by the opposition on the floor of the House regarding the alleged fraud in the corporation.

“Now there are two vacant berths in the cabinet and they need to be filled. We said one should be given to a female member. We may have to wait for another ministerial berth for Vijayapura district,” he said.
