Sri Lanka to lose 2027 Women’s Champions Trophy hosting rights; India Frontrunner To Host
According to sources, the International Cricket Council is all set to strip Sri Lanka of hosting rights for the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy scheduled for February 2027. India is likely to host the tournament in the same window. The decision to move the tournament outside of Sri Lanka stems from government intervention in Sri Lanka Cricket, where an interim administration called the Transformation Committee was appointed by the government to oversee board changes and constitutional changes. While India has emerged as a front-runner for the tournament, an official announcement is still awaited.
