After evaluation, we will add more talukas to the drought-hit list, says the minister

Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil on Sunday said the state government would classify more talukas as drought-affected in the second phase, after the completion of a comprehensive ground truth assessment report.

After laying the foundation stone of the Ayurvedic College at Abbetumkur village in Yadgir district Dr. Patil told reporters that the drought will be declared strictly based on the criteria set by the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

“A total of 101 taluks across the state, including Shahapur in Yadgir district, have been declared drought-affected in the first phase,” said Dr. He suffered.

“Currently, the actual status assessment process is underway to evaluate parameters like rainfall deficit, prolonged dry spells and crop loss. Based on this final verification report, more talukas will be included in the second list,” he said.

He added that the state government is closely monitoring the ground conditions in Gurmitkal and Yadgir talukas which have been severely affected and are likely to be added to the updated list after receiving the report.

Teacher suspension

Regarding the suspension of two government teachers, Dr. Patil clarified that the decision is in accordance with civil service rules and administrative regulations.

He emphasized that civil servants are prohibited from associating with or supporting organizations that adhere to specific ideologies.

Dr. Rejecting the allegations leveled by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi regarding the suspension, Patil urged the BJP leader to think twice before making allegations.

“Congress does not believe in or pursue vindictive policies. Our focus remains squarely on development management,” said Dr. He suffered.

Reacting to recent political developments, the minister noted that B. Nagendra had resigned from his post voluntarily to avoid unnecessary embarrassment to the party.

He criticized the opposition and accused the BJP of exploiting the issue for political gains rather than engaging in a constructive legislative debate.

“The BJP has wasted valuable time of the assembly session by raising slogans instead of engaging in meaningful debates,” he said.
