Tahsildar’s vehicle set on fire in Walajah

An official tahsildar vehicle was torched at the taluk office in Ranipet’s Walajah town in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said it was around 1 am when security personnel at the taluk office noticed a fire in an SUV parked at the main entrance of the office. They alerted the Walajah police and fire brigade in Ranipet town.

The vehicle was gutted before firemen from Ranipet put out the fire. The police removed the charred vehicle from the scene. A case has been registered.

Police analyzed the CCTV footage of the taluk office, which showed that a masked person set fire to a vehicle inside the premises before fleeing the spot. According to the police, the video shows the person’s face covered with a sari. Police also analyzed other CCTV footage en route to apprehending the suspect. A probe is underway.
