Bengaluru: A team from the Directorate of Medical Education is inspecting the ‘missing’ physiotherapy and nursing faculties

A team from the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) visited the schools on Saturday (August 29) after the students claimed that colleges where they were allotted seats for Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Nursing and other professional courses in the second round of CET counseling were not found at the addresses given.

Speaking to The Hindu, BL Sujatha Rathod, Director of DME, said, “Following allegations by students and media reports of missing or spiritual faculties, inspection teams were formed on the instructions of the Minister of Medical Education, who visited the colleges. Meanwhile, the change of address of Hosmat College of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru and Physood State College was approved by the Mangaluru Government and Physood Therapy. sent to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), but the KEA did not update the new address of these colleges, so among the students there is confusion.

“At BW Lions Super Specialty Eye Hospital, off JC Road, Bengaluru, where seats are allotted for Allied Health Science (AHS) courses, the management submitted seat matrix to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). They did not say at that time that they will not be able to take the course. However, after the seat matrix was finalized and sent to KEA course, the seat is not done. We will take unforgivable action against the college. A report on this will be submitted to the government by Monday,” she added.

Apart from this, an inspection team was also sent to Sushrutha Nursing College. “There is a college at the given address. But since last year they are not taking admissions in that college. Instead, the staff there said they are merging with another college and sending students to this college,” she said, adding that a “high-level investigation” would be conducted against the management and a report would be submitted to the government for legal action.

“There are some complaints against Chettinad Institute of Nursing Education and Research about high fees. This will also be investigated and appropriate action will be taken by filing a complaint with the Fee Regulation Committee,” she said.

However, in its clarification, the RGUHS said that the university consistently carries out the necessary verification and communication of institutional details as part of its efforts to maintain accurate and reliable information regarding its affiliated institutions. “Wherever changes in the names or addresses of the institutions are reported by the affiliated colleges and duly processed by the university, the same are brought to the notice of the authorities concerned to take necessary action,” he added.
