TG SAFE indicates expired food, spoiled vegetables and pest infestation in Hyderabad restaurants

Expired food, spoiled vegetables, poor hygiene and pest infestation were among the violations found during a special food safety inspection conducted by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) at seven restaurants in Hyderabad on Saturday, August 29.

Six TG SAFE enforcement teams, made up of food safety officers and police personnel, inspected restaurants across the city. Officials also found violations in food handling and storage and non-compliance with food safety labeling and display regulations.

The inspections included Chutneys, Spice 6 and Ohri’s in Banjara Hills, The Spicy Venue in Jubilee Hills, 4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant and Shah Ghouse Restaurant in Tolichowki and Pista House Restaurant in Gachibowli.

Following these violations, officials held up 11 food samples for suspected adulteration for further investigation. Four improvement notices and three show cause notices were also issued to restaurants, according to TG SAFE.
