Kane was presented with the prestigious award at the Allianz Arena ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga opener. Kane beats teammate Olise
Kane was voted the winner by members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS), receiving 272 out of 659 votes. Bayern team-mate Michael Olise finished second with 203 votes, while Kane succeeds Florian Wirtz, who won the award in 2025. The award recognizes Kane’s outstanding 2025-26 campaign, during which he scored a remarkable 36 Bundesliga goals.The German Footballer of the Year award is Kane’s latest individual achievement. He was awarded the European Golden Boot earlier in the week after finishing as Europe’s top scorer in the 2025-26 season. He also celebrated team success with Bayern Munich, who defeated Borussia Dortmund 2:1 in the Franz Beckenbauer 2026 Super Cup on Saturday.Although Kane did not get on the scoresheet in the Super Cup, his remarkable run of individual accolades continued with his historic recognition in Germany.
