Believers from nearby states took a pilgrimage to the miraculous cross to the Nadagad mountains in the Belagavi district on Friday. Men and women of various religions, including pilgrims from Goa and parts of Maharaštra, participated in the Diocesan Day of Reparation, which took place in the historic and miraculous cross at the peak of Nandgad Hill as part of the Lent season.
Many of them took the pilgrimage to the Nandgad cross, while others took part in daily services that began early Friday morning. Bishop Derek Fernandes chaired a special prayer service and the Holy Mass at noon, which took place at the top of Nandgad. The youth performed the game on the passion of Christ at the top of the hill.
In his sermon, Bishop Fernandes urged people not only to repent for their offenses and sins, but to go one step ahead and overcome the same thing to be more sophisticated and spiritual people in society.
“Today we think deeply about the topic of reparation. Call to repentance is not new – God spoke this call through his prophets as Jonah did. When Jonah was sent to Nineveh, he originally tried to escape. Finally, Jonah got into being. Compensation, ”said Bishop Fernandes.
He also said that sin harms more than our relationship with God – it harms other people. It can affect one’s property, reputation, peace or even their own value. Repair means doing what we can recover these wounds – to restore what we have broken to rebuild what we destroyed, Bishop Fernandes continued and urged people to explore and seek God’s forgiving. “We will address those we have hurt and make a change where it is possible,” Bishop Fernandes recalled.
Vicar General Fr. Philip Kutty, parish priest Fr. Shantappa Borker and other priests were present. The living way of the cross was also enacted by the youth, representing the “passion of Christ and his death on the cross,” said the release.
