Foreign nationals in the US, including the Indians holding visas registered in systems, will now have to carry their documents with them and their children will have to register and submit their fingerprints as soon as they reach for 14 years.
New US immigration rule
According to the new rule, every immigrant living in the United States must provide documents confirming their legal position whenever they ask.
The announcement was made on Friday, when the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) announced a new rule.
“All noncitizens 18 and older must always carry this documentation. This administration has ordered DHS to give priority to enforcement, will not be unfinished in the statement,” DHS said in a statement.
The announcement comes shortly after the US court allowed Trump’s administration to continue with the plan so that immigrants illegally live or enter into the United States Register in the Federal Government or to face fines or imprisonment.
Will the Indians be affected?
The new regulations, which came into force on April 11, are ready to have several consequences for immigrants in the US. The decision will also be influenced by the Indian H-1B visa holder.
According to the Times of India, citing immigration experts, those who entered the US by means of a valid visa (study, work, travel, etc.) maintain the green light, the border transition of employee documentation or the I-94 entry will not be influenced by the US judgment and will not register again.
New US Visa Rule: What will be the effects?
However, even in cases of such “already registered” immigrants, including Indians, it is obliged to bear their registration documents under all circumstances. This includes Indian workers holding H-1B visas or international students of whom Indians are.
Children of such people will have to register and submit their fingerprints in the first 30 days from 14 years.
According to Reuters, District Judge Trevor McFadden in Washington, appointed by President Donald Trump during his first term of office, he found that groups questioning the Ministry of Internal Security – including a coalition for human immigrant rights and American agricultural workers – did not show that they would build a prosecution.
“As organizations, many of their damage are too speculative and have not been able to show that the rule will disrupt their basic missions,” he wrote.
Federal law has long requires immigrants in the United States, including those who were illegally in the country, but the request was not imposed.
