
In an unprecedented decision, the Supreme Court prescribed that the President had to decide on the draft laws reserved for her assessment by the governor in the period three months from the date of such a legacy, the PTI reported.
“We consider it appropriate to accept the timeline set by the Ministry of the Interior … and prescribe that the President is obliged to take decisions on proposals reserved for his assessment by the governor in the period three months from the date on which the legacy is received,” the Supreme Court said.
He added that in the event of any delay after the set period, it would be necessary to document and communicate to the state in question, that states would cooperate by providing timely answers to any questions raised and to be considered by the central government proposals.
“In the case of any delay for this period, the reasons would have to be recorded and transferred to the relevant state. States must also cooperate and prolong cooperation by providing answers to questions that may be raised and consider the central government proposals,” he added.
He also said, “If the governor reserves the draft law on the assessment of the President and the President, the detained consent, it will be open to the State Government to attack such an action before this court”.
The Supreme Court set the timeline for the governors

The delay in providing the Governor’s consent caused the government of Tamil Nada to move the Supreme Court in 2023, claiming that 12 accounts containing one of the year 2020 were waiting with him.
Governor said that 13 November 2023 detained consent to 10 accounts after which the legislative assembly convened a special session and re -enacted the same accounts on November 18, 2023. Later, some proposals were reserved to assess the President.
