The Diamond Harbor football club enters the i-League football league, becoming the 4th Bengal club playing in the prestigious Indian football league
The Diamond Football Club Harbor Football Club (DHFC) will enter the i-League after the club defeated the Sports Academy Tirur 2-1 in I-League 2 to ensure the promotion of I-League in Manjeri in Kerala on Saturday. The club based in West Bengal became the fourth team that played in the league after East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting, all of which are now playing in the Indian Super League (ISL).
Abhishek Banerjee, who owns the team, said it was because of the discipline of their players to get to the i-League. He wrote: “It is a moment of immense pride and joy-for me personally, but for every member and supporter of the Diamond Harbor Football Club family.
“Our rise via the first CFL Division after the CFL Premier Division, then the I-League 3 Champions, I-League 2, and now even three years is nothing extraordinary. It is a story of gravel, vision and faith that will inspire millions of footballers and fans.”
DHFC still remains undefeated after 14 matches.
Diamond Harbor FC won the title I-League 3 at the beginning of this season to qualify for I-League 2, and if Diamond Harbor gets a point against the second location of Chanmar FC, the I-League 2 will be crowned.
