At Balasadanam in Kurnool, inspection flags have expired, ordered by the probe

A surprise inspection at Balasadanam in Peddapad near Kurnool on Friday (August 28, 2026) highlighted deficiencies in staff attendance, food distribution and supervision of children. Another problem was the absence of biometric attendance and an adequate monitoring system.

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary B. Leela Venkata Seshadri conducted the inspection as directed by the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Chief District Magistrate G. Kabardhi.

The DLSA secretary ordered an inquiry into the lapses and appropriate action against those responsible, stressing the need to ensure the safety, welfare and proper supervision of the children.

On inspection, he noticed that most of the affected employees were absent. There were discrepancies about the children being served the eggs – while kitchen staff claimed the eggs had already been served, another claimed they had yet to be cooked. However, the children told the clerk that they had not received the eggs.

During the inspection, the official learned that there were cases where children were forced to withhold information and reprimanded when they spoke up.
