The jump of the school exam is concerned as a dip, as a contrast reaction to the results in two northeast countries.
Days after the Voice of the People’s Party (VPP), the new Regional Party of Meghalaya criticized the state government for promoting a guide to register an unprecedented percentage of passage 87.10, Congress criticized Assam’s educational policy for a 12% decrease in the success of class X exam.
On Friday (April 11, 2025), the results of the certificate at the secondary school or the X -class test were carried out by the secondary Educational Board in Assam. The total percentage of the passage dropped to 63.98% of 75.7% in 2024.
Congress MEP Gaurav Gogoi said the results raised serious concerns. “It is a clear sign that the government fails to young Assam. The only focus of the government of Himanta Bisw Sarma is to close schools,” he said, challenging the effectiveness of the very praised model schools established in many tea estates.
“The main minister must allow the Minister of Education to be able to fulfill him instead of constantly postponing him. The Assam government must take urgent, targeted steps to improve the approach, justice and quality in secondary education,” said Mr. Gogoi.
Minister of Education Ranoi Peg noted that the percentage of passage between the planned caste and the “tea garden” or Adivasi students were below the state average at 58.56% and 51.89%.
“In the academic year 2025-26, the Ministry of Education will prefer focused interventions in these two social sectors to overcome the gap in learning and support inclusive educational growth,” he said.
Main Minister Sarma, who responded to Mr. Gogoi, said that the “tea stem” students exceeded 50% of the threshold for the first time, a significant social milestone that reflected the growing aspirations and efforts in repeated belts.
He also said that planned tribes students (71.32%) of the general category students, underlining the focused educational support and the growing academic confidence between tribal and marginalized communities.
Mr. Sarma also stated that this year’s examination meant a pedagogical shift, because the entire questionnaire format was redesigned with a focus on knowledge and evaluation based on concepts-folding from the style of rotation.
Driving a guide
In Meghalaya, the VPP criticizes the coalition government led by the National People’s Party, using guides to stimulate a record passage of 87,10-more than twice the 2024 in some districts-for the cost of the future of children. The state high school leaving the certificate or the results of the class X exams were announced on April 5.
“We are glad that most students have succeeded, but we are concerned about the quality of education. If the high percentage of passage will not go to higher learning results, we do service to our children,” said VPP spokesman Batskhem Myrboh, academic.
He demanded scrapping of the test -oriented products provided within the impact of CM (the initiative of the main minister to maximize the success of the passage and the triumph in the class, started in 2024). Teachers in Meghalaya questioned the usefulness of these guides, which they believe do not have to strengthen the basis of students for higher studies.
Minister of Education Meghalaya Rakkam A. Sangma replied to VPP criticism. “These guides are not mandatory and the results reflect the hard work that the students put in,” he said.
“People were unhappy when the results were poor. They are still unhappy when the results have improved significantly,” he added.
The class X success rate in Meghalaya was 55.8%in 2024.
