BCCI unhappy with Asian Games facilities, may send B team to Japan

The All-Member Cricket Boards have called on their representatives to visit Japan immediately to assess the facilities provided to cricketers amid concerns over accommodation standards. The issue was discussed at the ACC meeting, with concerns particularly focused on the size of the rooms allocated to players. The rooms are reportedly considered too small for two cricketers to comfortably share with their bags and luggage.

“It’s a real problem because the rooms are very small. If one player opens the kitbag, there’s not much standing room left. We’re trying to find a solution to that problem,” said a source familiar with the matter.

A source said most boards at the meeting showed little disapproval of the facilities provided, although the size of the accommodation proved to be a real issue. One board member reportedly warned that if the facility was not up to the required standard, the board might consider sending a B team instead of its full team.

During the discussion, the representative of the full member of the board suggested that the representatives of the full member countries immediately travel to Japan and evaluate the facility first hand.
The representatives would then provide feedback to their respective boards, after which a final call could be made on whether the facilities met the required standards for the cricketers involved.
