The new trend of social media has owners of pets who share photographs of their cats and dogs, and then asks Chatgpta to imagine what their hairy friends would look like people. Most of the pictures created by chatbot are delightful, fun and surprisingly heartfelt. However, some users called Chatgpt that they were “racist” after they noticed that some black cats and dogs were displayed as white people in the visuals generated by AI.
It all started with a post shared on the official Instagram website in Chatgpt. “Do you want to see what your pets would look like if it was a person? Creating pictures in the chat is free and available to everyone. Just upload a photo and ask: Show me what my pet would look like. For tip: Do not hesitate and add attributes you would see or personality features about your pet to get really good”! The company wrote.
The post was also represented by the Screengrab from multiple users who participated in the trend and shared their results at X. In three cases, black pets were displayed in the generated AI images.
This is how people react:
The individual published: “Someone else sees here bias?” Another added: “Fun but of course, black cat had to be a white person, lol. A little racially biased as usual.” The third commented, “I don’t understand why a black cat wouldn’t be black.” The fourth wrote, “They made black and white cat, both white people.”
A few days after the start of the native images generator, social media was flooded with visual substances in the style of Ghibli. The trend was viral when users realized that they could use Chatbot to generate images inspired by the iconic style of the Japanese studio Ghibli.
