SCoR officers and medical team assist a pregnant woman during delivery in a train at Vijayawada railway station

South Coast Railway (SCoR) officers and an emergency medical team assisted a pregnant woman in delivering a baby on board a train at Vijayawada station.

According to information, the woman developed labor pains on August 25 while traveling in the B-6 SMVT Bengaluru-Agartala Express bus.

Travel Ticket Investigator Manish Kumar Jatav alerted the Emergency Medical Resource Team and First Aid Center staff at Andhra Hospital Vijayawada Station.

When the train reached the station, the business management staff, emergency medical equipment staff and Vijayawada station deputy superintendent made necessary arrangements and helped the woman deliver the baby in the coach.

The woman gave birth to a baby boy and both mother and child were safe. Later, SCoR officers shifted the mother and child to the Vijayawada Government General Hospital for better post-delivery care, railway officials said on Thursday (27 Aug 2026).
