India at Commonwealth Games: July 30 schedule, medal events, Glasgow fixtures

India will look to build on their strong Commonwealth Games campaign on Thursday, July 30, with Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra taking center stage in the men’s javelin qualification in Glasgow.

Neeraj, who will be competing at the 2026 Games for the first time, will be joined by Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh in the qualifying round. The qualifying standard was set at 84.00m, with all athletes achieving the mark or the top 12 advancing to the final. With Neeraj comfortably covering the distance several times this season, he is expected to book his spot in the medal round without much trouble as India eye another track and field podium finish.

Another major storyline will be Tejaswin Shankar’s campaign in the men’s decathlon. The Indian athlete begins a busy opening day with five events, but there will be an added focus on his fitness after he suffered a high jump injury in the ongoing event. Tejaswin was unable to clear his first jump and withdrew from the competition due to a patellar tendon injury in his knee. The setback raised questions about how well he could cope with the grueling 10-race competition in Glasgow.

India will also have medal hopes in weightlifting through Martina Devi Maibam and Lovepreet Singh, while Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Samardeep Singh Gill, Parul Chaudhary, Seema Kaliramna and Nidhi Rani will feature in the athletics finals later in the day. Elsewhere, India’s bowlers, track cyclists and sprinters will also be in action as the country’s busy schedule continues.
