HRD Minister Lokesh lays foundation stone for two ₹5,750 crore clean energy projects in Rayalaseema on July 30

IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone of ₹5,750 crore Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) clean energy projects totaling 800 MW in Anantapur and Kurnool districts in Pattikonda on July 30.

These projects are a 400 MW wind project at Kanekal in Anantapur district (₹3,500 crore) and a 400 MW solar power project at Pattikonda in Kurnool (₹2,250 crore). The aim is to meet the clean energy needs of major industries coming up in the state, according to an official release.

The TPREL project at Pattikonda is being set up on 2,700 acres and the Kanekal project on 760 acres. Together, these projects will employ about 4,000 people during the construction phase.

It has been stated that the coalition government is determined to transform Rayalaseema into a renewable energy (RE) hub and the TPREL projects are a major step in this direction, supported under the Integrated Clean Energy Policy AP – 2024. Large-scale RE projects by ReNew Power and SAEL are already in various stages of implementation in the region.

TATA Projects has achieved 800 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity at CTUIL’s Anantapur-II and Kurnool-4 substations, enabling efficient evacuation of renewable energy through the national transmission system.

TPREL projects will benefit more than 1,100 farming families by providing them with long-term financial security and steady income. The Kanekal project will be developed by TPREL with technical collaboration with Suzlon.
