Murali Sreeshankar wins Commonwealth Games silver to complete stunning comeback story

If the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is going to have a fairytale comeback story, then it will be all about Murali Sreeshankar. After missing out on success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Palakkad man won his second silver medal at the Commonwealth Games with a jump of 8.09m in Glasgow.

Sreeshankar remained in the lead during the early part of the competition before being ousted by Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle, who won gold with a jump of 8.15m. Scotsman Stephen Mackenzie rounded out the podium as he won the bronze medal with a jump of 8.08m.
