Heavy rain lashes north and east Telangana on July 29, Eturunagaram in Mulugu records over 120 mm

Heavy rains lashed several districts of Telangana on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), with parts of Mulugu, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial and Karimnagar receiving heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to intensify flood monitoring and issue a public advisory.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, as of 3 pm, Eturunagaram in Mulugu district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 122.8 mm followed by 115.3 mm in Wazeed (Mulugu), 100.8 mm in Kannaigudem (Mulugu), 92.8 mm (P9dapalramtha Kunli) Mahadevpur (Jayashankar Bhupalpally), 82.3 mm in Jaipur (Mancherial) and 76.5 mm at Gundi (Karimnagar).

Mulugu District

Mulugu District Collector B. Hemant Sahadeorao inspected the flood-damaged diversion road across Isuka Vaga between Cheekupalli and Peddagollagud villages in Wajedu mandal after heavy overnight rain washed away the temporary approach road laid next to the under-construction bridge. The damage led to temporary suspension of vehicular movement on National Highway 163, which connects Telangana to Chhattisgarh.

The collector directed the officials to resume the alternate route once the floods receded and instructed all departments to remain on high alert as heavy rainfall was forecast in the district for the next three days.

Jagtial district

Meanwhile, district administrations in other rain-hit regions also issued warnings to residents. Jagtial District Collector B. Satya Prasad appealed to the public to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rains. He said the district administration is fully prepared to respond to any emergency and has set up a 24-hour dispatch center at the Collectorate to coordinate rescue measures and provide immediate assistance.

The collector advised residents, especially those living in low-lying areas, to be careful and not venture near streams, rivers and ponds where water levels could rise rapidly due to continuous rainfall. He urged the public to report rain-related emergencies to the district control center on 7989193131 and assured that the officials would respond quickly.

No significant rains in Hyderabad

Hyderabad has been witnessing showers in several parts since Wednesday morning, with no heavy rainfall recorded till 9:00 pm. According to TGDPS data,
