Mandya accelerates VB-GRAM G deployment

Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer KR Nandini directed all Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) to prioritize generation of man days under VB-GRAM G scheme with special focus on Gram Panchayats which have recorded zero man days.

Presiding over a video conference with the Taluk Panchayat and PDO Executive Officers on Tuesday, Ms. Nandini instructed the officials to prepare action plans as per the guidelines of the scheme, upload them in the designated software and complete the approval process. She said that any technical problems should be immediately reported to the Zilla Panchayat for resolution in coordination with the state office.

The Director General stressed the need for greater public participation and directed officials to intensify information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns to create awareness among rural residents and wage laborers about the objectives, eligibility and benefits of the scheme. She instructed officials to ensure that employment is immediately provided to all eligible workers seeking work under the scheme and called for accelerated efforts to achieve the prescribed targets for working days.

Ms. Nandini announced that she would start inspections on a taluk basis from next week and said that the implementation of the scheme would be reviewed on the ground.

It also directed the Deputy Secretary (Development) to organize awareness workshops on the VB-GRAM G scheme in all taluk headquarters, making participation mandatory for CHOPs, DEOs and all staff involved in its implementation.

After reviewing other development programmes, the director general directed officials to take precautionary measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to villages that are likely to face water shortages in view of declining groundwater levels due to insufficient rainfall.

It also directed officials to dispose of e-Swathu applications within the prescribed period and warned that applications should not be returned or left pending without valid reasons. Disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against officials responsible for unjustified delays, she warned.

The CEO called for faster implementation of government programmes, including the Swachh Bharat Mission, housing schemes and other development initiatives. She also asked the Taluk Panchayat and PDO leaders to extend support to the economic activities of the Sanjeevini Federation under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).

Officials were further instructed to prepare action plans for salary and non-salary grants released under various heads of government by the end of December 2026, obtain necessary approvals, carry out quality works as per government guidelines and ensure full utilization of funds.

During the meeting, officials were also directed to convene ad-hoc committee meetings based on social audit and internal audit reports to resolve audit objections and recovery cases at the earliest.
