The ongoing rift in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) took a turn for the worse on Saturday when actress Ansiba Hassan accused actor Tiny Tom and a section of the forum members of character assassination and passing communal remarks on her. She cited alleged harassment as the reason for her departure from the organization on February 21. Ms Hassan was the joint secretary of the AMMA led by actor Shwetha Menon, who was elected its first president in August 2025.
In an interview to the media, actor Drishyam claimed that Mr. Tom accused her of trying for religious conversion, besides spreading rumors about her personal life. She said she was informed of the alleged comments by another member of the organization. However, she said she did not wish to take legal action over the allegations.
She also accused the AMMA leadership of not supporting her when an executive committee member filed an alleged false police complaint against her.
He denies the allegations
Meanwhile, Mr Tom has denied Ms Hassan’s allegations. Responding to the media in Kochi, he said that the allegations against him were based on mere hearsay. “I am a person who works honestly and speaks openly,” he told the media.
He exuded confidence that the AMMA Executive Committee would take a suitable decision on the matter.
Soon after the allegations broke, actor Priyanka came out in support of Mr Tom. In Kochi, she said Ms. Hassan should have her grievances taken up under AMMA.
Ms. Menon, meanwhile, told the media in Kochi that she had received a complaint from Ms. Hassan mentioning the names of Mr. Tom and Lakshmipriya, the vice-president of AMMA, on Saturday afternoon after the matter became a topic of discussion in the media.
