Aadi Srinivas mocks KTR’s challenge, defends Congress govt

HYDERABAD

Government whip Aadi Srinivas dismissed BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s appeal to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to dissolve the assembly and seek fresh elections, calling it “nonsensical and politically motivated”.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Mr. Srinivas accused BRS leaders of engaging in “subversive politics” through false narratives with vested interests. He alleged that there was internal dissension within the BRS, claimed that attempts were being made to sideline senior leader T. Harish Rao and said that the debate on the political future of the party was intensifying.

Defending the Congress government, he said the people had given a clear mandate for five years and that Mr. Revanth Reddy’s leadership arose from the fight against “corruption and bad governance”. He asserted that the current government will work to maintain the confidence of the people throughout its tenure.

Mr. Srinivas also criticized the past claims by BRS leaders that the Congress government would collapse soon after its formation, noting that such claims have been proved baseless. Referring to the electoral trends, he said that the Congress has improved its vote share over consecutive elections and has proved its strength in the municipal polls.

Taking a look at KTR, he claimed that his political rise was rooted in family influence, comparing it to Mr. Revanth Reddy’s background as a leader who emerged from the people. He said the comparison of the two was out of place. He added that the upcoming local body elections would also reflect the support of the Congress.
