Arjun Tendulkar makes father Sachin proud in LSG debut. Master pers rare message for son
Arjun Tendulkar impressed on his debut for Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, May 23. Playing against Punjab Kings, Arjun played his full quota of four overs and took the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh with a searing yorker at the Ekana Stadium.
Arjun’s performance prompted father Sachin Tendulkar to post a rare message about his son on X, praising Arjun for his hard work and love for the game. Sachin took to social media immediately after the match ended and shared an emotional note.
Sachin, who rarely comments publicly on his son’s cricketing journey, praised Arjun for remaining patient and continuing to work hard behind the scenes despite having to wait until the last league game of the season for his opportunity.
“Well done Arjun. I’m proud of the way you’ve come through this season, you always believe in your abilities, stay patient, work hard quietly and stay positive even when you have to wait for your chance until the last game. Cricket tests patience as much as skill and you did both brilliantly today. Keep your feet on the ground and keep loving the game as always. I love you always.”
LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2026: HIGHLIGHTS | SCORECARD
Sachin’s last public post on his son’s cricketing journey was back in 2023 when he reacted to Arjun’s debut for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Saturday’s news may have also resonated deeply with cricket fans, many of whom have longed to finally watch Arjun bowl regularly at the IPL level.
HOW DOES ARJUN TENDULKAR BOWL?
Arjuna Tendulkar was brought into the attack right after the power bowler Rishabh Pant. The left-arm pacer got off to a confident start, hurling a series of well-aimed bouncers at Prabhsimran Singh that caught the batsman slightly off guard.
Battered by the trajectory and odd bounce, Prabhsimran drove one down the leg side towards Pant. However, the LSG captain could not hold on to the chance to deny Arjun what could have been an early breakthrough on debut.
Despite the missed opportunity, Arjun did not lose his cool. He returned to his mark and completed a tidy first innings conceding just four runs without conceding a single boundary.
However, Arjuna’s second over proved a bit more expensive. Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran used their legs smartly against the youngster, picking up two boundaries and a six to collect 15 runs from the over.
Realizing that the batsmen were coming at him, Arjun smartly adjusted his angles in his third over, which was the 15th over. By then, Shreyas had already started dominating the bowling attack on his way to a sensational century and it was difficult for the youngster to contain the Punjab skipper.
But Arjun showed character under pressure.
The left-arm pacer defied the onslaught and fired in a searing yorker that trapped Prabhsimran plumb in front of the stumps, dismissing the opener for 69 runs and handing Arjun his first IPL wicket.
Arjun’s final over, the 17th innings, was another impressive one. Bowling at the death under pressure, he conceded just five runs and showed admirable control even as Punjab eventually chased down the target.
RISHABH PANT’S DOP COSTS 49 RUNS
Prabhsimran Singh’s crucial drop off Rishabh Pant cost the team 49 runs. Had Pant been able to stick to Arjun’s sharp bouncer, things could have been different on Saturday.
Arjun showed commendable temperament on Ekana and walked away with figures of 4-0-36-1, with two sensational overs at the start and at the death. He was Lucknow’s most economical bowler on Saturday.
