Man found dead with neck injury in Ashok Nagar
A 28-year-old man allegedly ended his life by slitting his throat at the Ashok Nagar police station on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Gautam, a resident of Wilson Garden. Police said passers-by spotted his body lying in an empty cemetery and alerted authorities. Due to the nature of the injuries, it was initially suspected that it was a homicide.
Police teams rushed to the spot to conduct a preliminary investigation and analyze CCTV footage. During the investigation, officials found evidence suggesting that Gautam allegedly took the extreme step himself.
Investigators learned that the deceased was allegedly mentally disturbed and had recently escaped from a rehabilitation center. Police said his mother had abandoned him while his father had died a few years ago. They said Gautam was believed to have died on Thursday evening but the incident came to light on Friday morning.
The body was taken for an autopsy. Police said no suicide note was found at the scene. The police are registering a case of unnatural death and further investigation is underway.
