Make Telangana safest manufacturing location, official tells pharma industry

A senior official in the Telangana government on Saturday stressed that the pharmaceutical industry must see safety as a key driver of competitiveness and not just a compliance requirement.

Addressing the CII Telangana conference here, Lifesciences and Pharma Director and CEO Sarvesh Singh said this calls for fostering a proactive safety culture through continuous incident reporting and adoption of advanced technologies. As the life sciences and vaccine capital of the world, Telangana has a greater responsibility, he said.

“Innovation, quality and safety are the three pillars of a globally competitive Life Sciences ecosystem,” he said and urged the stakeholders to make Telangana the safest destination for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Emphasizing the need to leverage artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, digital twins, wearables and drone-based inspections, CII Telangana in a conference report on ‘Pillars of Protection – Creating a Safer Future for Pharmaceutical and Chemical Manufacturing’.

The conference, which was the second in the series, was attended by leading representatives of the pharmaceutical and chemical industries in Telangana.

CII Telangana Pharma and Life Sciences Panel Chairman Chakravarthi AVPS said, “Scale without security is a liability and growth without resilience is unsustainable.” He said this urges the industry to move beyond compliance and incorporate safety by design as a core business philosophy.

CII Telangana Past Chairman R. Sivaprasad Reddy said process safety is critical to building a resilient and globally competitive Life Sciences sector. He reaffirmed CII-TG’s commitment to develop the industry through knowledge sharing, capacity building and collaboration of best practices.
