No other full-time nation has managed more than six such totals in a single calendar year, underscoring India’s continued dominance with the bat in the shortest format.More notably, India have now crossed the 200-run mark in T20Is 52 times, extending their all-time record. The next best side, South Africa, have managed the feat only 29 times, highlighting the gap between India and the rest of the cricketing world when it comes to consistently posting mammoth totals.

India’s remarkable consistency is reflected in the all-time list of over 200 totals in a calendar year.They first set the benchmark with nine such scores in 2024 and have now equaled it in 2026. Zimbabwe struck twice during the power over as Abhishek Sharma and the well-rounded Vaibhav Sooryavanshi departed cheaply.Abhishek offered a simple catch to Blessing Muzarabani’s Ryan Burl while Sooryavanshi, after racing to 20 from just nine deliveries with four boundaries and a six, stumped bouncer Richard Ngarava at mid-on.With India under pressure, Ishan Kishan and skipper Shreyas Iyer leveled the innings with a composed partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket.Kishan then found an ideal ally in Tilak Varma as the pair added 94 runs to completely wrest control away from Zimbabwe.Kishan hit a brilliant 81, pacing the innings perfectly. He reached his half-century in 31 balls before stepping up spectacularly to smash another 31 runs in just 13 deliveries. His leg-side stroke play proved particularly destructive, repeatedly punishing the Zimbabwean bowlers in the mid-wicket region.Tilak complemented him superbly with an unbeaten 60 off just 29 balls, silencing recent discussions of his success. The left-hander raced to his fifty in just 23 deliveries, mixing elegant placement with clean strokes.The duo took India to 61 runs in the last five overs, lifting the visitors to an impressive 219/5.During the innings break, Tilak credited Kishan for setting the tone.“We felt that anything around 200 would be a really good score. But if you think about 200, of course the score can go up to 220, especially when Ishan was batting. It was amazing to watch,” Tilak said.The 23-year-old also revealed that talks with head coaches Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman have made him focus on scoring more through the ground rather than relying solely on aerial shots.“I spoke to Mr Gautam and now Mr Laxman about finding the gaps. If you hit the ground, your consistency improves. I worked really hard during the break after the England series and I’m glad it worked out today,” he added.With another 200-plus added to the ever-growing collection, the Indian batting unit continues to redefine T20I standards.
