We will announce the team by Tuesday,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told TOI on Saturday. The first Test of the series – expected to be a trial by fire for India’s batsmen, who have struggled with quality overseas spin on turning tracks in recent years – will be played in Galle from August 15-19. The second test is scheduled at the SSC in Colombo from August 23 to 27.Meanwhile, the BCCI will conduct a review of Team India’s white-ball tour of Ireland, England and Zimbabwe in the first half of August.Led by new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, India suffered a shock 2-0 series defeat to Ireland – their first ever T20I series loss against the hosts – before being whitewashed 4-0 by England in the T20I series. Under Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, India then lost the ODI series 2–1 to England, ending a disappointing tour of Great Britain. However, India bounced back with a much better performance in Zimbabwe, beating the hosts by seven wickets in the opening T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The win was Iyer’s first T20I captaincy in India after a seven-match winless streak.“In the first part of August, we will conduct a review of India’s tours of England, Ireland and Zimbabwe. It could be early August. Some of the contracts (supporting Team India) have expired. We will review it. In our review meeting, we will discuss everything, including what went wrong in England. The review meeting will be held after our team from Saikia Zimbabwe comes back.

BCCI review to decide contract extension for Ten Doeschate and Dilip

The contracts of two members of head coach Gautam Gambhir’s support staff have ended after continued white-ball assignments and a decision on their futures will be taken during the BCCI’s post-Zimbabwe tour review meeting.Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and coach T Dilip have their two-year contracts expired.“The contract extension of the two expiring support staff members will be decided by the contract extension review committee,” Saikia disclosed. There is speculation that Ten Doeschate and Dilip’s contracts may not be renewed.Dilip, who joined the Indian team as part of former head coach Rahul Dravid’s support team, is a popular figure and best remembered for introducing the ‘Best Player Medal’ presentation after every match. He was the only member of Dravid’s support staff to continue after Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey completed their tenures following India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup.However, India’s fielding standards have dropped noticeably in the last few months.
