A man booked for capturing a couple and assaulting them
A man in his 40s, identified as Nagendra, was arrested by the Bellandur police for allegedly restraining a couple and assaulting them after calling them Bangladeshis in southeast Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The accused allegedly intercepted the couple, identified as Nasreena and Bilal, while they were walking near an apartment complex in Hadosiddapura and called them Bangladeshis. The couple alleged that Nagendra subsequently assaulted them, hitting Bilal on the head and face and then knocking him to the ground.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly continued to kick the husband and hurled humiliating abuses at the couple in Hindi. He then allegedly threatened to kill them if they told anyone about the incident before leaving the scene.
Nasreena lodged a complaint with the Bellandur police demanding strict action against the accused, which has now resulted in an FIR. The police invoked the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deal with unlawful restraint, willful insult with intent to cause breach of peace and criminal intimidation, among others.
