Pala bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt on Sunday (April 6, 2025) called on the Catholic community to be unified in the face of growing opponents, sharply criticizing the Kerala deputies for the vote against the draft law on WAQF (amendment), 2025.
When the bishop noted that the discussion of the WAQF Act and the Parliament, the awareness and ignorance of these lawyers, he noted that the discussion surrounding the draft WAQF, as well as the awareness and ignorance of these lawyers, noted that the discussion on the WAQF law, as well as in the awareness and ignorance of these lawyers. And the ignorance of these lawyers combined all 171 parishes, noted that inside and outside the parliament.
Description of WAQF (amendment) acts as “a set of timely, practical and effective democratic reforms”, the bishop decided that the problem WAQF is not only religious, but a matter of national and social importance. The aim of the amendments was to reduce the abuse of WAQF law and solve long -term legal confusion, he stressed.
He noted that Catholic bodies, such as the Catholic Bishops ‘Council (KCBC) and CBCI (Indian Catholic Bishops’ Conference), were handed over by MEPs from Kerala. “They could stay or at least explore intermediate solutions. But instead they simply disrupted their party line,” he said.
“Numerically small but influential”
The prelate also lamented how the Catholic community often seems helpless when it is confronted with problems that directly affect its interests. “Our community can be numerically small, but it is influential. We play a key role, not only in the church, but in society and a nation in general. We may not be able to choose many voices, but we can influence the results with our moral strength and values. This is our real power,” he added.
Bishop, who takes a veiled burst on BJP leader George, rejected notes that legitimate violence against Christians. “We said,” We stood in front of the temple, so they defeated us “, he has no justification. People walk in and out of the churches every day. These are nothing but political excuses,” he said.
Attitude toward the political party
He also ruled out any plans for the Catholic Church to create its own political party. “We are not under the illusion that the creation of a new political party will take us far away,” he added.
The event ended with a pig -beard, General Secretary of the Commission for Temperance KCBC, which managed to pledge the participants against the ban.
