A case of road obstruction has been registered against the organizer of an event at Kochi’s Panampilly Nagar where rapper Vedan performed songs in support of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in Delhi, police said on Friday.

The Ernakulam South police station officer said that the police had registered the case themselves for organizing the event without her permission and for obstructing traffic on the road where the program was held two days ago.

While Vedan, also known as Hirandas Murali, was not named in the FIR, his manager, who was also the organizer of the event, is the main accused along with about 200 other “identifiable persons” who were present when the program was held.

The officer said the police are working to identify all those present and their names will be added to the FIR accordingly.

Thousands of students, CJP activists and leaders of opposition political parties are protesting in Delhi against alleged irregularities in various examinations, including NEET, conducted at the national level and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
