Delhi Metro adds Jhandewalan station to its list of 16 stations closed for the day – full list here | Today’s news
Delhi Metro has announced the closure of a total of 17 stations from 7.30 am today till further instructions. Jhandewalan station was added to the list of 16 stations that were closed on Thursday, July 23 amid the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest. She further noted that commuters have access to exchange facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.
In a post on X on Thursday, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said: “Metro stations will be closed from 07:30 am tomorrow (July 24, 2026) till further instructions. However, Interchange facilities will remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.”

4. Ramakrishna Ashram Marg
Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Friday announced that he has ended his indefinite hunger strike on the 26th following the government’s assurance on the CJP’s demands. A post from his X account said: “END OF HUNGER… BEGINNING OF ACCOUNTABILITY…! Sonam Wangchuk is ending her fast after 26 days after getting assurances from the government and members of parliament from all political parties that the issue of accountability in the failed examination system will be taken up on the floor of the Indian Parliament.”
The announcement comes at a time when the monsoon session of Parliament is underway. “The government has also given an assurance that the families of the suicide victims in the recent NEET paper leak will be given adequate compensation and that no cases will be registered against the peacefully protesting students and youth,” the post added.
Another post shared in the wee hours of Friday revealed that he ended his hunger strike in the presence of Union Ministers JP Naddy, Dr. Jitendra Singh and senior leaders of Apex Body of Leh Ladakh who met him at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Thursday midnight.

CJP, the center for today’s proceedings
CJP representatives are most likely to hold talks with the government at a neutral venue around 12:30 pm on Friday to push for its demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. After the government agreed to the youth-led organization’s request for a meeting, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the discussion would be held at the Constitution Club of India.
CJP spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur said, “The government has agreed to meet us at a neutral venue. We will make our demands which we have been consistent with since day one. Four demands: Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Second is compensation to the families… All FIRs against innocent protesters should be quashed,” ANI reported.
