
The Minister of Income K. Rajan said on Saturday that the Catholic priests of the Kerala, who were allegedly attacked by right -wing activists in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, expressed sincere gratitude for the support of the extended state government and its inhabitants.
When Mr. Rajan spoke to reporters after visiting one of the priests, he said that in the middle of the ongoing Indian party (Marxist) (CPI (M)) Congress, the main minister personally hit and the state authorities immediately contacted higher officials in Madhya Pradesh on the day of the incident.
The Minister of Income also said he had a direct video call with Fr. Davis George, one of the victims of the attack.
“We assured him all possible support and told him that we were ready to visit if necessary. He thanked us and simply asked for our prayers,” Rajan said. He added that what was happening in India was completely unacceptable.
“Demolished church”
Rajan said right -wing activists had previously demolished a church built for believers in Madhya Pradesh. “Fr. Georgeis did not participate in religious conversions, but provides education and other facilities for the bad part of people in the Mandel,” he added.
Mr. Rajan claimed that there were extensive attacks between minorities in various other countries and stated that the government of Keraly and its people had a “secular” mind.
Meanwhile, former Minister of Trade Unions and Leader Bharatiya Janata (BJP) V. Muraleedharan claimed that congress was behind the attack. “It is understood that the congress should deal with this incident when they created a hay bay to face BJP in Madhya Pradesh,” he told reporters in Thiruvananthapurama. “Congress is responsible for relaxing the attack, and that’s my answer to this problem (Jabalpur),” he added.
Hit strongly
The Chief Minister Pinaraya Vijayan condemned the attack on Catholic priests on Thursday and urged the authorities to strongly intervene and take the relevant legal steps against the culprits.
In his statement issued by his office Mr. Vijayan said that a group of tribes, including women and children who were pilgrimage, were taken to the police station for charging the “forced religious transformation”.
When some priests hit them to help them, they were beaten by a group of people in the presence of the police, said the whole incident “very contemptible”, he added.
Fr. George, general vicar of Catholic diocese Jabalpur, and secretary Jabalpur diocesan corporation Fr. George Thomas, who comes from Kerala, was reportedly attacked at the Ranjhi 31 police station.
Four days after the Police incident, Madhya Pradesh registered the first information report on Friday, although no one has yet been arrested.
