Commonwealth Games 2026 Live Updates: The opening ceremony is scheduled for 0:30 AM IST

The wait is almost over as the 2026 Commonwealth Games are officially set to begin with a spectacular opening ceremony at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

Around 3,000 athletes from 74 nations will take part in the traditional Parade of Nations to mark the start of an 11-day sporting spectacle across the Scottish city.

The Indian contingent will be led by Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu as the flag bearer, while Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain will serve as the ceremonial baton.

The ceremony will also include cultural performances, live music from leading UK artists and the unveiling of the official mascot, Finnie the Unicorn, to set the stage for the games ahead.
