Former US President Barack Obama expressed sharp concern about the recent events of President Donald Trump and warned that they were threatening basic US values. Obama spoke to Hamilton College in New York and rebuked the administration for intervening freedom of expression, focusing on lawyers, and isolating America with erratic foreign policy movements.
“I am interested in the federal government that threatens universities if they do not give up students who exercise their right to freedom of expression,” Obama said, according to a transcript shared on their middle profile.
Criticism without names of names
While Obama explicitly named Trump, the links were clear when he criticized the tariff policies, the media access and legal retaliation. He pointed out the targeting of legal companies representing politically unpopular causes and the punishment of media media, such as the Associate Press not to use the term “American Gulf”.
“This kind of behavior is contrary to the basic compact we have like Americans,” Obama said.
“It has a lot to do with something rare, which is who we are like a country and what values we stand.”
“Imagine I did it”
Obama called what he sees as a double standard in political discourse, and said the Republicans were outraged if he took similar steps during his Presidency.
“Imagine that I pulled out the Fox News credentials from the White House,” he said.
“It is unimaginable that the same parties that are now silent would tolerate such behavior from me or the whole bunch of my predecessors.”
WARNING: “Is going to affect the price of eggs”
Obama stressed that these are not abstract problems. They can soon affect everyday Americans.
“People tend to think,” Oh, democracy, rule of law, independent judiciary, freedom of the press ” – that’s all abstract things because it doesn’t affect the price of eggs. Well, you know what? Will it affect the price of eggs.”
Note for Foreign and Greenland
The former president also blasted foreign policy of administration, especially its ignoring international standards and alliances.
“We have seen that the US government is actively trying to destroy and discredit this order,” Obama said.
“Thinking that I gathered is that because we are the strongest, we will be better if we can only bullshit people … and if we see the land, be like,” Who will stop us? Greenland looks good. “”

Harris joined the Critics Choir
Former Vice President Kamal Harris, who spoke to the leading women defined in California, repeated Obama’s concern. She warned that fear was spreading across the country because democratic standards are eroded.
“We see those who surrender clearly unconstitutional threats,” Harris said.
“Of course it creates a great sense of fear … But courage is also contagious.”
