
The Kerala Water Office (KWA) intensified the inspection to avoid abuse of water in the summer months.
In a statement here issued on Saturday (April 5, 2025), KWA said that abuse of drinking water, gathering water from public taps by means of hoses, washing of vehicles, bathing of cattle and using water for other non-delayed purposes were crimes. In addition, the installation of engines on the pipeline and KWA pipes to the line is also prohibited.
Officials stated that water connection with arrears, non -functional meters, unauthorized use of water without meters and inactive for a longer period of time would be disconnected without further warning. Water connection owners without meters should contact the KWA office. Failure to comply would result in disconnection and legal steps, warned the statement.
As part of the implementation of the invoicing system, consumers are obliged to provide telephone numbers. Water connection, which is not linked to a valid phone number, will not be maintained, it is stated in the statement.
