
The Tamil government said on Friday that two fishermen from Sri Lanka who were arrested last month were released. Both fishermen were arrested on 20 March and their ship was confiscated. The Chief Minister of MK Stalin led by Tamil Nadu ensured their release on 4 April by compliance with all the procedures. The decision to release fishermen was made taking into account a good relationship between the two countries. The event again shows that the government of Tamil Nadu approaches coastal problems for humanitarian reasons and is strong for the protection of fishermen’s rights. It also helps to strengthen the relationship between the two nations, the edition said. The aim of the government of Tamil Nadu is to build relationships based on trust and understanding, he added.
