HC orders status quo over Bahadurguda village lands

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday ordered status quo regarding some land in Bahadurguda village of Shamshabad in Rangareddy district after hearing two writ petitions filed by persons claiming to be the owners of the property.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the HC, noting that the two writ petitions involved some serious contentious issues of ownership and property, directed the authorities to maintain status quo with respect to the structures in the subject property/lands as per further orders. The judge also said that due process of law should be followed if any action is to be taken in the matter.

The petitioners’ lawyers alleged that officials of the revenue authority, HYDRAA and the police had recently entered the petitioners’ lands and attempted to expropriate them and dismantle their structures. While one petition was filed by 85 farmers owning plots in survey numbers 28 and 62, the other was filed by Anil Kumar Dundoo, C. Anusha Reddy and M/sk Mustang Infra Projects Private Limited with plots in survey numbers 37 to 42 and 54 of the same municipality.

In another suit filed by Jakkidi Yadi Reddy and three others, the judge ordered the HYDRAA authorities not to take any enforcement action against the petitioners regarding 26 plots of land in the same village under survey number 335. The three pleas were adjourned to August 11 for further hearing.

Pigeon feeding

In a separate matter, a union bench headed by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh ordered the authorities to file a counter-affidavit in a public interest litigation petition to streamline the regulation of unauthorized feeding of pigeons in public places and launch an awareness campaign to educate people about the ill effects of feeding pigeons. The suit was filed by doctor Radheshyam Tapadia of Musheerabad.
