Chemical spill after truck overturns on Tumakuru-Bengaluru highway, traffic hit

A truck carrying chloride chemicals overturned on the Tumakuru-Bengaluru National Highway near Kuluvanahalli village in Nelamangala taluk on Wednesday, triggering a chemical spill and triggering panic among nearby residents.

According to officials, the truck was traveling from Tumakuru to Bengaluru when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the highway. The accident resulted in the release of a dangerous chemical from the tanker.

Fire and rescue personnel from Nelamangala along with Nelamangala traffic police rushed to the spot and started rescue and containment operations.

The incident led to a massive traffic jam on the busy state highway where vehicles were stuck for several kilometers. Motorists have been advised to take extra care and use alternative routes until the road is cleared.

The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
