Haryana Congress seeks Murma’s intervention on ‘paper leaks’
Haryana Congress leaders on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) asked President Droupadi Murmu to intervene in the alleged irregularities prevailing in the examination system across various institutions under the central government.
Haryana Congress leader Sanjay Dutt along with other leaders submitted a memorandum to the President through the deputy commissioner of Kurukshetra district. The party held a meeting at Kurukshetra where organizational matters and strengthening of the ongoing student rights movement and reforms in the examination system were discussed.
“Through our memorandum, we have requested the President to intervene immediately on the ‘lathi-charge’ of students who were peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for their legitimate demands. Students and youth across the country are democratically raising their voices for transparent examination system, fair recruitment processes and dignified opportunities for their future. Instead of listening to their concerns, the central government has chosen the path of repression and use of force. Mr. Dutt.
Separately, former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda condemned the use of force against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders.
“It is the right and responsibility of every citizen and public representative to hold peaceful protests on public issues. The demands of the students and the opposition are completely legitimate. Today, the entire nation is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, but the BJP government at the Center remains adamant,” he said.
Meanwhile, Punjab leaders and workers staged a protest at the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh against repeated paper leaks across the country. They demanded the resignation of Mr. Pradhan and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, holding them responsible for repeated paper leaks and failure to protect students’ interests.
