Green Corridor created to transport brain dead organs of Councilor Kollam to Thiruvananthapuram

A special green corridor was set up on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) afternoon to transport donor kidney and liver from Kollam to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

The green corridor was created for smooth transportation of the harvested organs of B. Ajith Kumar, a 53-year-old Kollam Corporation councilor and standing committee chairman from Kureepuzha, who was admitted to the Travancore Medical College Hospital in Kollam after suffering a stroke on Sunday morning. He was declared brain dead early Wednesday morning while still undergoing treatment.

After his death, Ajith Kumar’s family members, including brother Suresh Kumar B, agreed to donate his organs.

Ajith Kumar’s liver, kidneys and corneas will give a new lease to five people.

The liver will be taken to KIMS and one kidney to Government Medical College Hospital, both in the state capital. The other kidney will be taken to Travancore Medicity in Kollam. Both the corneas will be transferred to the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in Thiruvananthapuram.

The transport of organs through the green corridor was scheduled to start from Kollam at 2 pm
