The special investigation team (SIT) set up an American national case, which allegedly entered the forbidden tribal reserve area of the Northern Island of Sentinel, inspected the island from a distance on the ship on Thursday (April 3, 2025) for any article left by a foreigner.
The American National Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov (24), arrested by CID 31 March, allegedly joined the island of North Sentinel without any permission.

Andaman and Nicobar Police DGP HS Dhaliwal said PTI: “Sit together with officers from the Department of Handy Good Living Conditions inspected in the northern Sentinel Islands across the telescope and preserved the distance to find any article that would be left to Polyakov and could endanger the life and safety of Sentineleles.”
“Despite the gross stream of sea and heavy water, the entire operation was carried out carefully and according to the protocol to maintain the safety and privacy of Sentineles,” DGP said.
Sit was accompanied by Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) an officer (complainant of the case) and an accused American national who is currently in police custody.
“The US national reportedly left several bottles of soft drinks on the island of Sentinels Tribe. He is afraid of leaving some other unknown items that are urgently necessary for the security and health of the Sentinel tribe because they are highly vulnerable to modern diseases because of the outsiders.
“The foreign national who accompanied us showed the northeast side of the beach on the northern island of Sentinel, claiming to have made some photos and video recordings. We could not find any bottles of non -alcoholic beverage.
Polyakov to be tried in court
Polyakov was arrested by the Department of Criminal Investigation Andaman and Nicobar Police for alleged entry to the highly forbidden North Sentinel Islands 31.
The arrested American national will be produced on Friday before the local court, the police officer said.
Among the items confiscated from him were an inflatable ship and a trailer or obsm that gathered in the local workshop.
Not the first attempt
The police said that he carefully planned his way and conducted research on the sea conditions, influx and availability from the beach of Kurmy dera in southern Andaman.
Mr. Polyakov, whose father is of Ukrainian origin, was found in the possession of the GoPro camera and his shots showed him landing on the island of North Sentinel, the police said.
The police said it was not his first visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In October last year he visited Port Blair and tried to explore the island of North Sentinel using an inflatable kayak, but was stopped by the hotel staff.
In January this year he tried to get the engine for his ship. During this visit, he went to the Baratang Islands and allegedly illegally video schedule of the Jarawa tribe, the police said.
Against him, companies were registered under the 1946 Act, together with parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Regulation Regulation, 2012, on the basis of a complaint filed at the Ograbraj Police Station in Tirura, Tirur.
Who are Sentineles
Sentineles, who inhabit the island of Northern Sentinel, are marked as a particularly vulnerable tribal group. It belongs to the wider class of Adaman people.
They are hostile to foreigners and killed people who approached or land on the island.
US missionary John Chau was killed in November 2018 when he tried to contact Sentese, considered the last pre -elitic tribe in the world.
