Animal lovers in Bengalur are in their arms because the Ministry of Animals and Veterinary Services recently demolished old quarters of employees on Queen’s Road opposite the Super Special Veterinary Hospital to make the Silk Shownataka Silk Industries LTD (KSIC).
In an order approved in 2023, the government ordered the Ministry to transfer the land of 1700 square feet on Queen’s Road to Ksice to establish its God, Sales of Sales, and the headquarters. Later by the middle of 2024, animal activists learned of the order and have been protesting since then. Now, with the demolition of the building about three months ago, activists say it is impossible to stop the proposed project.
“They have already destroyed the space for employees on Queen’s Road, and it is ridiculous that there is a silkroom.
At a time when there are not enough animals for animals in the city, activists ask why existing land is also distributed. “Why does the department distribute this land without public consultations? There is a lack of animal shelters in the city and this space should be used for this solution. Instead, they are based on profits and set up a silkroom. It is a pity,” said ARUN Prasad, animal activist and pet owner.
In 2024, animal activists went legal when two soil acres were transferred to the WAQF Board of Directors. The High Court then stopped the transfer of land and ordered the Ministry to maintain the status quo. In this case, however, activists feel that it is a lost cause because the ksic has already started working.
The Queen’s Road Hospital is only 24/7 of the government’s Bengalur Government Hospital and is one of the two super specialized hospitals in the city. “First, it was the transfer of veterinarians from Bengalur to rural areas. Now they are giving away what is left for animals, just for some income,” another animal activist said.
When they were asked to answer, the ministry officials stated that the country has already been transferred to the KSIC and the activities of the activities will be decided by the KSIC.
