The four female cabinet members who were fired or resigned are as follows:
- The latest resignation is Tulsi Gabbard, the head of national intelligence. On May 23, she announced her resignation on social media. She revealed that she planned to leave office to care for her husband, Abraham, who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.
The post said: “He faces great challenges in the coming weeks and months,” adding: “At this time I must step down from public service to stand by his side and fully support him in this battle.”
Gabbard, a former military officer and Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, joined the Republican Party in 2024. According to a source familiar with the matter, Gabbard was dismissed by the White House, Reuters reported. Trump has hinted at growing differences with Gabbard in the past over their approach to Iran, suggesting she has been “softer” than him on curbing Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle said, “Any suggestion that the White House forced her to resign because of her husband’s health is defamatory,” noting that Gabbard was a patriot who served his country exceptionally well.
Trump announced in a social media post that Gabbard was “sadly” leaving the office due to her husband’s diagnosis: “Tulsi did an incredible job and we will miss her.”
On the occasion, the Iranian embassy in Armenia wished Gabbard and her husband on X, saying: “Before, you have sometimes shown that you work for America and not Israel, and sometimes you have spoken truths about Iran that Trump hated. It added: “It was a shame that someone like you worked with this government that sidelined America and represents Israel.
