Bengaluru police foiled the kidnap bid after Namma 112’s quick response

An attempt by four persons to abduct a taxi driver along with his friend near Bagalur in northeast Bengaluru in the wee hours of Friday was foiled by the police.

The attempt was thwarted after a quick response by the Hoysala team following a distress call from one of the victims.

According to the police, the incident happened on Friday at around five in the morning, when four people who had arrived from the airport ordered a taxi. After boarding the taxi, they allegedly threatened the driver with a knife near Srinivasa Nagar under Bagaluru police station jurisdiction and demanded money.

When the driver told them that he was not taking any money, the accused allegedly forced him to call a friend to the spot. After the friend arrived, the four allegedly tried to kidnap him as well. However, the man managed to escape and immediately called the Namma 112 emergency number.

Hoysala-164, attached to Yelahanka Police Station, has been dispatched. The officers arrived at the scene within 16 minutes. When noticed by the police, the accused allegedly tried to run away. However, the police managed to arrest one of the accused and rescue the kidnapped.
