The Kendras registration service intends to help the public, not to privatize services, says Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu clarified that the Registration Service Kendras (RSK) was set up only to provide faster and more citizen-friendly registration services and in no way was it a matter of “privatisation” of Sub-Registration Offices (SROs). The RSKs were meant to simplify registration services and would work on the lines of Passport Seva Kendras, he claimed.

Speaking at a review meeting on real-time management at the secretariat near the site on Monday, Mr Naidu said that while the objective of the RSK was clear, false propaganda was being unleashed that it was a move to privatize the SRO. He commissioned officials to explain the facts to the public and highlight the benefits of the new system.

He also promised the authors of the documents that they would be shown alternative livelihood options.

Deepam subsidy

The chief minister told the officials to ensure that the subsidy under the Deepam-2.0 scheme is credited to the beneficiaries in a systematic manner on pre-determined dates and instructed the civil supplies and finance departments to coordinate properly in this regard.

“Usual Litigants”

Referring to “habitual litigants”, the chief minister said petitioners filing petitions without any genuine public interest should be identified and counseled.

Officials informed Mr. Naidu that 81 habitual petitioners have been identified across the state, each of whom filed an average of 246 petitions.

Mr. Naidu directed officials to address non-financial grievances immediately and address issues with financial implications on priority.

Precipitation deficit

Regarding the prevailing weather conditions, he noted that the state has received a 49% rainfall deficit this year due to the impact of El Niño and directed officials to identify alternative strategies to mitigate the situation and encourage farmers to grow drought-tolerant dry crops.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to take Viksit Bharat guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission – Grameen (VB-G RAM G) works on a large scale and to integrate them with Jaladhara water conservation works.

Emphasizing the importance of proactive governance, Mr. Naidu said the government should constantly evaluate public feedback, improve administrative procedures, anticipate emerging challenges in advance and take early preventive measures rather than reacting after a problem arises.
