
Guwahati (Assam) (India), April 2 (nor): Assam iconic jewelry has gained a prestigious brand of geographical indication (GI).
Main Minister Assam Himanta Bisw Sarma shared reports of his official description of social media. He said that Assam’s jewelry is an essential part of his heritage and culture. He reminded himself that in the 2018-19 budget, “we recommended the security of GI brands” for the protection of craftsmen and eventually the effort was successful and the Assam jewelry was recorded with the GI brand.
He picked up to X, wrote: “Assam’s jewelry – an inseparable part of our inheritance – received its own geographical indication brand (GI). I clearly remember that in the 2018-19 budget we suggested that the GI brand protects our craftsmen.
In April 2024, with a geographical indication (GI), up to 19 traditional products and crafts of Assam, including “Bihu Dhol”, “Jaapi” and several Bodo community items.
These traditional products and crafts include Assam Bihu Dhol, Assam Jaapi, Sarthebari Metal Craft, Assam Mrs. Mother Craft, Assam Asharikandi Terracot Craft, Assam Missing Handloom Products and several Bodo community objects.
“The great victory for Assam’s heritage! The six prestigious GI brands were awarded to traditional crafts with the support of Zabard, RO Guwahati and Padma Shri Dr. Rajani Kant, Gi expert.
“What better day than the birth of the birth of Bodofa receive GI brands for 13 articles that embody the rich cultural heritage of our Bodo community. This recognition will significantly strengthen the promotion of items and shift the legacy of these cultural objects,” Sarma added.
The GI brand is a name or sign that confirms that the product has specific features that differ from others. If you want to get the GI brand on any product, the association or organization that produces products may be subject to.
