
Samples of a two-year-old girl from Narasaraopeta in the Palnad district, who died of multiple organs in Aiims-Mandalagiri on March 16, tested positive for the H5N1 virus. The National Institute (NIV-PUNE) confirmation came on March 31.
This is the second human death in the country because of the H5N1 virus, which, according to officials, causes bird flu and the first in Andhra Pradesh.

It should be noted that Andhra Pradesh reported bird flu in more than four districts in January and February. However, no case has been reported from the Palnad district.
According to the Palnada district officials and a press release from the state medical and medical departments, the girl had “habit of consuming raw chicken” and ate it two days before the onset of symptoms of 28 February.
“It could be that chickens from affected places were sold here. Because the girl ate raw meat, the virus spread to it,” said the director, the animal breeding department, T. Damodar Naida. He added that this is the second human death due to bird flu in the ground.
According to a press release of the state medical and medical departments, teams of rapid reaction (RRT) from the Government Hospital, Guntur and eight other teams of healthcare workers were deployed to explore fever in and its surroundings.
No abnormal case has been identified during the survey, but the supervision will continue in the next two weeks and the testing will be organized for symptomatic persons, and release.
